He let out a breath of relief at his return. Snatching a mouse up in his jaws, Ravenpaw looked over to see Barley in the doorframe, returning from another one of his searches, his fur dripping wet and his head hung low in defeat. He could never take the prospect seriously, knowing how unlikely it was Barley could find an unwanted kitten, especially at this time of year. Barley couldn’t find a kit to bring back, but it seemed like he was more broken up about it than Ravenpaw was. Ravenpaw had tried to settle into his old routine, but the sense of loneliness didn’t leave as readily as the snow. Newleaf soon came to the forest, as the snow crept back and rivulets of runoff dampened the ground. ![]()
